How the works selected relate to life as we know it

In the play â€Å"Macbeth† by William Shakespeare, it is questionable whether Macbeth was destined by destiny or by an imperfection in his character. It could be contended that Macbeth was bound both by destiny and by an imperfection in his character. On one hand, the job of the witches impact could be viewed as a significant outer power that abused Macbeth’s character blemishes. Notwithstanding, then again, Macbeth’s goal-oriented nature and voracity for power was the defect in his character that eventually prompted his destruction. The degree to which Macbeths destruction is controlled by destiny or a blemish in his character will be talked about. It could be contended that it was destiny that lead Macbeth to his fate. The job of his opportunity meeting with the witches was instrumental in impacting Macbeth’s dynamic. On a scary night, Macbeth was told three predictions by the witches, â€Å"_All hail, Macbeth! Hail to thee, Thane of Glamis! All hail, Macbeth, hail to thee, Thane of Cawdor! All hail, Macbeth, thou shalt be the best hereafter.†_ Macbeth didn't scrutinize the precision of the predictions, which he accepted were predetermined in light of the fact that in Elizabethan occasions, it was accepted that witches could see into the future, slaughter their foes and make themselves imperceptible. Everybody accepted that the witches could see the future, and this drove Macbeth to executing Duncan once he had tuned in to the prescience that he would become King of Scotland. Macbeth thought, _†If chance will make them lord, why, chance may crown me without my stir.†_ An understanding of this statement as indicated by Macbeth could be, if destiny needed him to be the best, maybe destiny would simply get it going and he wouldn’t need to do anything. Subsequently, Macbeth was lead to destiny through the predictions of the witches, however by attempting to ace destiny, his aspiring nature and ravenousness for power was the imperfection in his character that eventually prompted his destruction. Macbeth isn't destined by destiny, however by a defect in his character. This defect can be seen as the manner in which he let his desire dominate and cloud his ethical quality. At his first taste of intensity, his desire dominates and he is longing for additional. Since Duncan is as of now King, the main route for Macbeth to satisfy hisâ desire is to slaughter him. Macbeth concedes that he needs to slaughter Duncan and eventually his own desire drives him to choose to murder the King. _†I have no spike to prick the sides of my aim, however just vaulting aspiration, which o’erleaps itself and falls on the other.†_ This is demonstrating that Macbeth was set up to slaughter any individual who was in danger to subvert his seat on Scotland’s seat. Macbeth obscured his decision making ability and yielded his ethics to accomplish his objective, to become lord. Macbeth put his own longing before the benefit of his nation and at long last it is decimated by his des ire. In this manner, Macbeth’s desire and voracity for power was not brought about by destiny, yet by a blemish in his character that he is capable because of his degenerate activities. Macbeth’s desire went to all lengths to get sort of Scotland, that in spite of the impacts, Macbeth was as yet answerable for his own activities. The witches revealed to Macbeth his three predictions; they don't constrained anything, basically introduced realities that affected Macbeth to act. Macbeth deciphered the words and activities to make the predictions work out. The witches gave Macbeth a phony feeling that all is well with the world and it is his heartbreaking defects that brought him upon his ruin. After Macbeth was told the predictions, he said to himself _†My thought, whose murder yet is nevertheless fantastical, Shakes so my single condition of man that function. Is smother’d in construe, and nothing is. Yet, what is not.†_ The witches’ forecast stirs inside Macbeth a lethal aspiration that was there from the start. Woman Macbeth is the main thrust that urges Macbeth to defeat his feeling of blame and make a move on the predictions. Woman Macbeth controlled Macbeth into murder by saying _†When you durst do it, at that point you were a man†_ A translation of this statement as per Lady Macbeth could be, he was even more a man when he set out to submit the homicide, and perceives that his desire to submit the homicide and guarantee the seat are appealing and masculine to her. Woman Macbeth was a gigantic impact to Macbeths debasements, for example she says, † A little water frees us from this deed.† Meaning she is truly disavowing with murder. Despite the fact that Lady Macbeth was a colossal impact, Macbeth was the person who held the blade. As an outcome of Macbeth’s activities, it was his aspiration and ravenousness for power that at last prompted his destruction. Indeed, even in light of outside powers, for example, controls of Lady Macbeth and predictions of the witches, Macbeth chose his own destiny through his activities. His ethical quality was feeble and he was conceited. Thusly, Macbeth aspiration and ravenousness for power was the defect in his character that at last prompted his ruin.

Let the games begin!

Let the games begin! Hey prefrosh! Welcome to campus! If youre not here yet, hurry up and get here, and if you are, you shouldnt waste too much time reading our silly blogs theyll still be here after you leave. However, if you arent sure what to do yet with your CPW, here are some tips from my experience last year / my observations of other peoples experiences. In no particular order, Dont spend too much time with your host! CPW is not meet this cool one MIT student and get to know them and blah blah blah. Although your host is probably a fairly awesome person, theyll be around for at least one more year (unless theyre old, in which case, why are you hanging around with somebody so old and crusty anyway? Just kidding, seniors). CPW is a chance for you to meet people in your grade and go to once-in-a-CPWtime events and have once-in-a-CPWtime experiences! If you like your host, maybe hang out with them once, but dont just go to their events and their living group; youll miss a lot. If Americas supposed to be a melting pot, then MIT is a boiling cauldron of every possible kind of weirdness (and some sanity) that youll ever encounter. Dont get a sheltered perspective! Go out, see it all. Your host tell you East Campus is weird and scary? So what! Live a little, get over here (I live in EC, and I dont bite). Your host tell you West Campus is full of jocks? I know first hand thats not true, and I also know firsthand that even those jocks can be pretty cool. Go out there and explore! Seriously. I feel that girls especially often feel too pressured to spend time with their hosts; sorry, my host and I are going to lunch! And then shes going to show me BLAH BLAH BLAH. You like her? Catch her after the fun, when youre recuperating. Make friends in your grade! Although this is a spillover from the general-CPW-rant that the previous item became, its important enough to be repeated here. I still know and talk to a number of people I met during CPW, whom I would never have met otherwise during my freshman year. I think my phones contact book filled up during CPW faster than it did when they transferred my bajillion contacts after purchase; seriously, if you do decide to come here, these are the people youll be learning, growing, blah blah blah cheesy metaphor with. Although the undergraduates already here are many kinds of awesome, your grade is going to be 1/4 of it for 4 years, and theyll the people youll have the chance to know for the longest. Get to know them! Eat a lot. CPW is full of free food. Enough said. That $20 in tech cash they give you? Use it right away for non-food (buy something semi-useful at Verdes, if you can) because theres food all over, 24/7. And its not half-bad. CPW should be more or less free. Dont spend too much time in any one place. This ones a broader version of the first point; CPW is a smorgasboard of smorgasms*, and you should have them all. Or something. Again: Youll have four years. *I dont know what that means or is even supposed to mean; dont ask. Come to MITERS! Shameless plug. Chris and I were going to try to get you to come hang out at MITERS, but we had too much work this week to do the blog post we wanted to. MITERS has spawned a number of cool things, the most famous of which Ill just link you to right now: a (non-river) Charles. In a nutshell, if youve ever decided something on instructables was cool, come to MITERS. Its not that far very close to Chicago pizza (open till 4am, if you need a place to snag a drink), just a 2 minute walk down Mass Ave from the Student Center and itll definitely be worth the trip. Directions: N52-115. Best time to come is probably Friday night, 7pm onwards, before your parties start up. Its in the butt-end of the MIT Museum building, kind-of. Edit: MITERS has spawned more than Charles. See: Squid Labs (Instructables! Whoa, we spawned that?), Z-Corp, more. Whoa. (If you dont know what those are, use your google) BE FLEXIBLE! I think this also repeats the general idea present in most of these tips (play Twister? nyuk nyuk nyuk, puns), but: dont fix your schedule! There are cool things that come up, and even if you really really really were planning on going to have pancakes or play foosball at living group X, dont hesitate to go with the flow and live in the moment and other cliches, because CPW should be spontaneous. Plan it out, and youre liable to miss out on a number of cool things. I think I also missed out on some of the official / mandatory / whatever events, but hey, those might be pretty cool too. Activities Midway / Academic Fair = bags of swag. Its like halloween. Last minute addendum: See a sunrise! Sleep may or may not be for pansies, but you can afford to do it at least once this weekend. Good fun. Ok, Cam out. Time to do my work so I can haze you all (legal note: kidding) when you get here; one last note, if you see me at any time during the weekend feel free to say hi, ask a question, whatever! I promise to give you wrong directions and whatnot, so that you look even more like a lost prefrosh. Peace.

Stag Moose - Facts and Figures

Name: Stag Moose; also known as Cervalces scotti Habitat: Swamps and woodlands of North America Historical Epoch: Pleistocene-Modern (2 million-10,000 years ago) Size and Weight: About eight feet long and 1,500 pounds Diet: Grass Distinguishing Characteristics: Large size; thin legs; elaborate antlers on the males About the Stag Moose The Stag Moose (which is sometimes hyphenated and capitalized differently, as the Stag-moose) wasnt technically a moose, but an overgrown, moose-like deer of Pleistocene North America equipped with unusually long, skinny legs, a head reminiscent of an elk, and elaborate, branched antlers (on the males) matched only by its fellow prehistoric ungulates Eucladoceros and the Irish Elk. The first Stag Moose fossil was discovered in 1805 by William Clark, of Lewis and Clark fame, at Big Bone Lick in Kentucky;Â   a second specimen was unearthed in New Jersey (of all places) in 1885, by William Barryman Scott (hence the Stag-Mooses species name, Cervalces scotti); and since then various individuals have been unearthed in states suchas Iowa and Ohio. (See a slideshow of 10 Recently Extinct Game Animals) Like its namesake, the Stag Moose led a very moose-like lifestyle--which, if you dont happen to be familiar with mooses, entailed wandering swamps, marshes and tidelands in search of tasty vegetation and keeping a close eye out for predators (such as the Saber-Toothed Tiger and the Dire Wolf, which also inhabited Pleistocene North America). As for the most distinctive characteristic of Cervalces scotti, its enormous, branching horns, those were clearly a sexually selected characteristic: the males of the herd locked antlers during mating season, and the winners earned the right to procreate with females (thus ensuring a new crop of big-antlered males, and so on down through the generations). Like its fellow plant-eating megafauna mammals of the last Ice Age--including the Woolly Rhino, the Woolly Mammoth, and the Giant Beaver--the Stag Moose was hunted by early humans, at the same time as its population was restricted by inexorable climate change and the loss of its natural pasture. However, the proximate cause of the Stag Mooses demise, 10,000 years ago, was probably the arrival in North America of the true moose (Alces alces), from eastern Eurasia via the Bering Land Bridge in Alaska. Alces alces, apparently, was better at being a moose than the Stag Moose, and its slightly smaller size helped it to subsist on rapidly dwindling amounts of vegetation.

The Criminal Justice System Law Enforcement Agencies

The Criminal Justice System works to enforce laws within the legislative, judicial, and executive branches of the government. To insure the criminal justice agencies are organized and functioning, it is typically divided into three main components. The three main components are law enforcement agencies, court agencies, and correctional agencies (Siegel Worrall, 2015). Law enforcement agencies are in charge of thoroughly investigating the crimes and detaining suspects (Siegel Worrall, 2015). Court agencies are within the court system in which handles all charges, indictments, trials, and sentences (Siegel Worrall, 2015). Correctional agencies are in charge of the next step after the suspect is convicted such as monitoring, treating, and rehabilitating (Siegel Worrall, 2015). The law enforcement agency is the first step in the criminal justice system. There job is to formally maintain order and enforce laws (Siegel Worrall, 2015). Police officers work hard to enforce traffic laws, prevent criminal behavior, keep alcohol and drug use under control, provide emergency services, and control any conflicts. They are also in charge of finding a probable cause to detain a suspect. The second step is the court agency. The court agency comes in once the criminal is arrested where they are booked and processed. Following the booking process, the criminal is given a court date. The setting of IT infrastructure has not been easy and this is where many organizations find our services reliable. In case our customers want to access their data on real-time, Digitech host the data and provides all authorizations, and authentication procedures to make sure clients data is free from interruptions. Additionally, some other organizations have been running without a websi te that can be used to document business process and its operations. Each departmental manager is tasked with a responsibility of making sure all employees are screened very carefully. The departmental manager is expected to team up human resource department during hiring in order to help in selecting competent employees. All new recruit must undergo refresher course training while on probation. This gives organization under departmental manager to scrutinize whether target employee fits in the organizational structures. In its service delivery, organization put very key interest in three departments because they are very sensitive. The hosting department which supports other organizations systems such as websites and remote backup through cloud-based services (Andre Cardin, 2018). The second one is the technical department which is tasked with system maintenance for the Company and other organization. The third department is application and system development where all systems are designed and developed to meet clients needs. It is in these departments where clients needs are captured so that it is possible to deliver accordingly. In each of these three departments, there is a section of employees who are tasked with collecting clients requirements and specifications that must be met. In this regard, it is very clear that quality is the priority in the Digitech as it focuses on making technological advancement the future of business success. Once Company has competent employees and organized departments to execute organizational duties diligently, the company must make sure all facilities are in order (Chen, Chiang Storey, 2012). It would be useless to have competent teams that do not have enough workload to handle. To reach many customers, Digitech has employed several mechanisms. When a Man loves a woman essays

When a Man loves a woman essays In the movie When a Man Loves a Woman it is about a woman who has a problem with drinking and gets put into rehab and when she gets out of rehab her and her husband start to have problems and separate, then they realize their problems and decide to give it another try. In the beginning of the film Michael does not know that there are problems in their marriage because Alice is impersonal and is not communicating her feelings with him, she counts on alcohol to take her problems away. Some of her problems are that Michael has decision control over the children, he undermines her authority and belittles her in front of them, and that her mother criticizes her all the time. When she tries to talk to him about how she feels when he goes away on trips he doesnt talk about it, he just says that when he comes back that they will take a trip to get away. When they go on the trip they start to metacommunicate. When she goes into the hospital she becomes more interpersonal by telling him about hiding the alcohol and hitting her daughter. After Alice gets out of rehab she sits down and tells Michael to ask her anything. He asks how it all got started, she tells him that no one really knows, that it could be that her father was an alcoholic or that maybe it was the fact that her mom made her feel like she was a nobody. Her self-concept about herself is that she is guilty, sad, depressed, frustrated, confused and that she would like to feel happy for once. The reflected appraisal comes from her mothers comments, her mother would blame Alices lapses on her father. The motive of Alices drinking is her mothers comments and her husbands stereotyping by taking her on trips. Towards the end of the movie when he comes homes and sees Gary there. He goes upstairs and she goes up after Gary leaves. They start talking and the talking turns into punctuation when she blames him for Gary leaving. Af ...

Gender and Language Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words

Gender and Language - Essay Example The farmer did get his drink but with an enormous lecture on the benefits of self-help. Is there a meeting point where members of the opposite sex could meet and communicate intelligibly There is the possibility. However, the possibility could come with a heavy rejoinder. The woman may ask for complete modification before seeing the set. The problem does not lie with the woman or the man. The problem is the age-old communication that has different people saying different things but understanding little. The man hardly will say anything. The woman has said all she wanted and also ensured that the cake remain with her. The husband, a listless individual, said little or nothing and scarcely knew the cake that existed. The problem is not with the man who does not talk or the wife who has not only told her version but included her husband's as well. The problem is in understanding the genders. Man is made to say something or nothing. Woman, on the other hand, is made to talk her head off. It does not matter if the man is not listening. Women are primarily different from men. You can have a bunch of women all talking together. You would not know who is talking and who is listening. But the conversation goes ahead in full blast and nobody is tired. This is because women are attuned to each other in such a way that makes listening easier. Women are also more thorough and systematic. ... A woman will dive deep within the ocean to explore the seabed. The man will hardly scour the surface if he finds nothing of value in the ocean. Language By and large, women are soft spoken and observant. Comparatively, men are brash and may not even know what they are talking about. Consider this: Woman (to her child): Honey, did you have breakfast Child: No mum, not yet. Woman: What would you like to have Scrambled eggs or cheese sandwich Child: Cheese sandwich Woman: I will have it ready by the time you finish your bath Now let us have a man talk to the same child. Man: Good morning! Child: Good morning, dad! Man: Have you had breakfast Child: No! The conversation stops. The man knows the breakfast will be served by the child's mother. He does not bother carrying on with the conversation. Now let us go to a more aggressive scenario. This concerns a wife-beater and the victim. The victim is in a more advantageous position because her conscience is clear. Because her conscience is clear she is in better position to think and speak clearly. The wife-beater normally lacks sense and is laden with guilt. The victim has the option to face off. The wife-beater has no such option. In this scenario who is better of Is it the wife-beater or the victim Under the gaze of a third person, the wife is better of. The man will crouch for safety if his actions come under the glare of a third person. Gender and Language If seen in the right perspective, gender and language form fluent, complementary roles between the opposite sexes. It shows the man as the strong and caring personality as against the slender and dependent role of the woman. It is quite natural for man to be strong and supportive and for the woman to be

Islam Is the Way of Life Essay

Thank yuo Mrs. Chairman. Well, good morning everyone. I would like to utter my very first salam to the honourable judges, respected teachers and fellow friends. My name is Noor Husna Bt. Ahmad Toha and I’m from the red team. The reason why am I standing here today is to give a speech entitled â€Å"Islam is the Way of Life†. First and foremost, I believed that each one of us had already heard the phrase â€Å"Islam is the Way of Life† quite often but what does it really means? So today, let’s make ourselves clear with it. Teachers and students, Islam guides from the cradle to the grave. It guides us in all aspects of life rather than just prayer and worship. The way of life of Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H is the way of life of Islam. His 24 hours of life is the perfect model for the people to follow until the Dooms Day. His way of speech, dresiing, his dealing with the wives, children and people in general, his sitiing, walking, sleeping, eating and even his way in the lavatory are model to us. His dealing as the ruler of the Islamic nation, as the judge, as the commander in chief of army, as the head of the family are examples to follow. Prophet Muhammad had once said, â€Å"I have left two things with you which if you hold onto, you shall not misguided; The Book of God and my example. Humans are made to obey The Creator. Following the Sunnah are one of the many ways to show our devotion to Allah, and the most important is surely to be gracious and respectful to Allah’s Messenger as stated in the Holy Quran in the first sentence of Surat Al-Hujurat which means, â€Å"O you who believe, do not put yourselves forward before Allah and His Messenger, but fear Allah: for Allahis He Who hears and knows all things. We can see a lot of scams in the business nowadays which is very contrary to what has been taught to us by the Prophet. It is a compulsary to us to be fair and honest in trading. Deceiving is completely forbidden. Cheating in business does not benefits anything but it is more likely to gives bad effect to our own life.

HRD: Different Perspectives, Aims, and Objectives

Different paradigms present different perspectives of HARD (Human Resource Development) in terms of its aims and objectives. Consequently, it important to understand the different paradigms since each paradigm will have different approaches while solving HARD related problems. Experts advise that individuals build their personal beliefs regarding which paradigm suits his or her practice. In our context, It is best to divide HARD into two different paradigms, the performance, and the learning paradigm since they are definite. Moreover, the learning paradigm and the performance paradigm overlook most of the HARD practice as well as the thinking. The learning paradigm Is especially predominant In HARD practice In the United States of America. The learning paradigm and the performance paradigm are very dissimilar in many aspects. For instance, as the learning paradigm focuses on individual learning the performance paradigm focuses on the individual performance improvement.Learning paradig m of HARD is the field of study and practices that nature a long- term work-related learning capacity in an organization at all levels I. . Individual, organizational, and group levels. The performance paradigm of HARD is the art of realizing units of mission-related outputs. In addition, performance can be an organized system meant to accomplish a purpose or a mission. Though the two paradigms are diverse, they both agree on some aspects, for Instance they both agree that Improvement of organizations Is through human expertise.Different experts and philosophers hold different perspectives on the performance aspect. Performance can be as a natural outcome of humans' actively, reference is an important input in economic activities, or performance can also be a tool of oppression. There are different views held regarding then learning paradigm. Learning is a humanistic Endeavor, as it enhances the potential of human beings. Learning can also end up being an oppressive tool, for instan ce in the context of communism where learning is used to control the society.Learning is an instrument for the transmission of information needed by individuals. Nevertheless, it would be ignorant to draw that the two paradigms cannot converge since HARD operates best under Integration of the two. Chapter 8 Primary, the chapter Is about the theories on performance. Performance theory varies In comparison to the learning theory since It concentrates on teams, processes, organizational systems, and Individuals. Organizational effectiveness Is the mall precursor to performance and can be in different models. It can be a goal model, constituencies model. HARD is not the only discipline interested in performance and consequently analyzing HARD is normally on a basis on the different perspectives of performances. There are other different perspectives such as performance is a ultrasonically phenomenon. Performance models are of wide ranges of disciplines such as sociology, ethics, quality, psychology, and etcetera. Individual level performance models were because of HARD since; HARD has its foundation on individual learning. The models are the human performance technology and they try to define the common individual performance and the factors influencing individual performance. The financial performance entails the financial benefits of the HARD programs. Different factors influence the HARD profession such as the value-laden myths. Some of the myths are that the cost of HARD is high, it is impossible to quantify the benefits of HARD or that giving organizations the HARD they want is appropriate.Breaches enterprise model and Rumbles model provide integrated framework to achieve competitive advantage. Other common representative models are the John Campbell taxonomy and Thomas Gilbert's human performance engineering model. The integration of the performance models bring about new perspectives to HARD research, practice, and thinking. Chapter 9 This chapter focuses on the different perspectives of learning and the different preventative theories on learning in HARD.Learning is at the core of HARD and all debates ever carried out suggest that HARD embrace learning. The basic theories are six and include humanism, constructivism, holistic learning, social learning, behaviorism, and cognitive. These theories can apply in all the learning settings as well as for all age groups. Learning models can be at individual levels and at organizational levels. In the recent past, androgyny has been a theory of adult learning, a set of assumptions regarding adult learners, and a method of adult education. At individual levels is the androgyny that is a principal adult learning in HARD. On an adult learning perspective, it is a genuine trial to focus on the adult learner. Ontological model avails core standards of important and key hypotheses on adult learners. Another king of learning that is increasingly gaining attention is the transformational learning. This kind of learning is deep and requires the learner to challenge the fundamental assumptions and the mental schema they hold regarding the world. In relation to mental schema are restructuring, accretion, and tuning here accretion and tuning entails no change or incremental changes in an individual's schemata and restructuring involves creating a new schema. Organizational learning is learning that occurs at system level and not at individual levels. The main feature differentiating individual and organizational learning is that individual learning makes their mental models precise. HARD develops the knowledge for organizations to be competitive in the economy. Swanson. A, Hilton. F, Hilton, E. Foundations of Human Resource Development. London: Barrett-Koehler Publishers, 2001.

Macbeth by William Shakespeare - 1052 Words

In the play Macbeth, Shakespeare depicts Lady Macbeth as a negative portrait of femininity. Lady Macbeths lack of femininity and new found masculinity allowed uncontrolled power to possess her and prevented her from reaching her potential greatness. Lady Macbeth started by demanding spirits to rid her of anything feminine, focussing on the parts of her female anatomy (1.5.39-49). Her breast milk represents innocence and purity which is being replaced by poison. She is doing this so others are able to feed off of her cruelty, such as Macbeth. She understands that Macbeth is too feminine (1.5.15-16) to achieve power, thus she needs to be masculine for the both of them.
